Paper #4

For Paper #4 our teacher had us do a twelve cited annotated bibliography. This bibliography was to contain the information with information that would pertain to Paper #5 and Paper #6. The subject I choose was the legalization of alcohol on the Navajo Nation. My Paper #4 contains information that I found on the Internet. A problem that arose about the information of legalization of alcohol on the Navajo Nation was that not much is published or posted about it. This made my research very difficult to complete.

I learned a great deal, as well as a new writing skill, from this Paper #4 because I never have done an annotated bibliography before. I found that writing the paper need a great deal of tolerance and dedication. The reason for this is because you need to have dedication to your topic as well as researching the topic, and you need tolerance because for each annotation you need to say the exact same thing over and over again. For example, you would need to cover the type of resource, the credibility of the author, the content of the source, how will the source enhance or suppress your paper, the limitations of the source, and how does this source compare to the rest of the other sources. All those questions would have to be answered for ever citation you have. So, to say the least, this paper I definitely learned a lot from but was a real pain to write.

Here are a few excerpts from my Paper #4:

"In this online encyclopedia, it gives a brief historical content of U.S. prohibition movements. Talking about the Anti-Saloon League, prohibition on a national scale. prohibition in other countries, and the end of prohibition. The authority of the author is credible because he wrote other books about prohibition. Such as: Deliver Us from Evil: An Interpretation of American Prohibition and The Dry Years: Prohibition and Social Change. ..."

"In this online posting, Linthicum wrote about the different types of bootlegging products. Not all bootlegging on the Navajo Nation is illegal selling of pre-manufactured beer but also the mixing of chemicals. For example, Linthicum refers to a specific type, an “Ocean”. The ocean, as read in the posting is a combination of hairspray and water. ..."
