These reptiles have a powerful bite but no teeth. Who has to watch out for them?

Snapping Turtle

The snapping turtle is a predator that preys on many animals such as frogs, insects, snakes and birds. What is a predator?

A predator is an animal that catches and eats other animals (their prey). This is called the predator>prey relationship and is an important part of the food chain. The food chain is made up of levels where energy is passes from one organism to the next. Producers (plants) are able to make their own food using the sun's energy. Consumers depend on other living things for their food. Let's learn more about how the food chain works.
