This series of exercises demonstrates
various opportunities for active learning
in which students start to constructand augment their knowledge base of this complex
topic by independently researching a specific question
and evaluating sources of online information. Next they
join in an interactive process in which
they are asked to participate in asynchronous
online discussionof various questions,
and share some of their evaluations of information
sources. Finally, in assigned groups they are asked to
collaboratively prepare for an online
debate and participate in a synchronousdebate of the topic of "Mandatory HIV
testing in pregnant women and newborns".
Objectives:
