My Egg Sac

Different spiders make different kinds of unique egg sacs. The female spider lays the eggs on a silken sheet and fertilizes them with sperm that is stored in her body. She will then cover the eggs with layers of silk to protect them.

With some species of spiders, the female spider dies after making the egg sac. With other species, the female spider continues living to assist with hatching, guarding, or carrying the baby spiders.
