Come Live with Me!

Did you know that each year my Monarch friends and I travel thousands of miles to our winter home? This is called migration. We like to go to California and certain mountain areas in Mexico. We  know fall is here the same way that you do; we feel the chill in the air. While you adapt by putting on a sweater, the situation is much more serious for us. Temperatures below 55°F make it impossible for us to fly; and temperatures below 40°F paralyze us!

We stay in our winter homes until about March, then we begin a quick retreat to our summer homes, at times traveling as fast as 30 mph.
