Introduction

Becoming a part of the learning community is an important part of participating in a online course. Learning is an active process in which you collaborate with your peers to construct knowledge. In this course the learning community is vital to the development of the concepts related to problem-based learning. In this module you will spend some time getting to know your peers and developing relationships that will assist you in the process of creating your final product.

Task

Your Task for module 1 will to begin establishing a relationship with the other members of the course. As a part of this process you will post an introduction on the Discussion Board as well as develop a Student Homepage that will be posted in the Tools area.

Resources

The Tools and resources you will need to complete this module are located on the navigation buttons on the left side of the page. The main Discussion area is where you will post your introduction. The Tools area is where you will find the homepages. If you need assistance with these tools you can utilize the Manuel located in the Tools section of this course.

Process

To begin, click on the Discussion Navigation button on the left side of the page. Find the discussion area labeled Introduction. Open this link and post your introduction. This should be a brief introduction that tells who you are, what you do, why you are taking the class, your experience in the online learning area, and any other interesting information you may want to share.

After you post your introduction you will need to respond to two other class members.

Your second assignment is to create a homepage in the Tools section of the course. The homepage area will have all the tools you will need to create a simple homepage. If you need assistance, you can use the manuel or check with your peers.

Journal: As part of the requirements for this course you will be asked to complete a journal for each module. For module 1 write down some of your thoughts as you participate in the discussion board and create a homepage. Make a note of the difficulties and successes you experienced. You will use this information as part of the final reflection for this course.

Assessment

There is no formal assessment for this module. You will be assessed on participation and completion of a homepage. You will not be assessed on your technical expertise.
