Course Information

Before you begin, you will need to make yourself familiar with the Blackboard environment. For the most part Blackboard is easy to navigate. The navigation buttons on the left side of the page will assist you in moving around the site. Please make yourself familiar with all the navigation buttons and the tools that will be used for this course.
This course is found in at http//coursites.blackboard.com. Please bookmark this page. When you open this page you will see a button that says login or create an account. If you have a user name and password-Click login and enter the information. If you do not you will need to set up an account. To do so Click "create an account" and follow the directions. Once you have logged on you will need to access the account. Click on the Tab at the top that says "Courses", then in the search box type in the course # 100PBL. This will pull up the course.
The menu bar on the left hand side of the page will link you to the basic sections of the course. Within each section you will find sub-folders to specific pages. This menu bar is visible when you are visiting each page. Take time to get familiar with each section and the sub-folders within each.
This section will contain the information that you need to navigate the course and link to the main sections of the course. This page will link to the information that will tell you how to navigate the course, the tools for the course, the syllabus, assignment schedule and the modules that you will need to complete the course.
In the course documents page you will find the modules that you will need to complete as part of the course requirements. The course modules are set up to be completed in order that they appear. Each module will contain an assignment that will need to be completed as a part of that module.
On the Assignments page you will find a the list of assignments that are to be completed as well as the dates that the assignments are due. It is important that you are familiar with these requirements and the dates that they need to be completed.
The documents section will contain information and documents that you will need to complete the requirements for the course. This section may be added to throughout the course as the need arises-so check here often!
This section contains the communication tools that you will need throughout the course. It includes E-mail, Discussion board, the virtual classroom- used for chats, the class roster and group pages. These pages are important to the your success in the online classroom. In order to make the most of your experience it is imperative that you participate in both asynchronous (chat) and synchronous (discussion board) communication. These are the tools that will assist us in building our learning community as well as assisting in making this a rewarding experience.
This page will contain all of the external links that are listed in the modules for this class as well as helpful links that may assist you in completing this course.
Here you will find the list of groups for this course. Click on this link to find out the group that you will work with for this course. You will also find a group discussion board, virtual classroom, file exchange and e-mail to communicate with your group members. You will be expected to be an active group participant.
In this section you will find additional tools that will be used in the course. These include the Digital drop-box, Homepages, Personal Information where you can edit your password and settings, Calendar, Grades, a Manuel that will assist you in using Blackboard, Tasks, an Electronic Blackboard and an Address book. Again, take some time to get familiar with these tools as they will be helpful in completing the course.
