Topic: How has the use of technology impacted teaching and learning in the PK-16 classroom?

Directions for this Project:

To be able to answer that question, you will investigate and report on the following:

  • Brief description of the following learning theories
    1. Behaviorism
    2. Social Learning Theories
    3. Cognitive Learning Theories
    4. Constructivism
    5. Constructionism
    6. History of technology use in schools
  1. You will do your research by investigating articles and readings from peer-reviewed journal articles. Please visit the NAU Library website on How to identify Peer-reviewed Journals (Guide to Peer-reviewed Journals) so you know the type of source you are using.
  2. You may also want to listen to podcasts, attend webinars and webcasts. You are allowed to use three sources from podcasts, webinars, and webcasts; the rest 5 sources need to come from peer-reviewed articles.

  3. A conclusion that summarizes the main points in the paper and provides your ideas to the question "now what?" That is, now that you know how technology has impacted teaching and learning in the PK-16 classroom and that you know what the main learning theories are, now what are the next steps to achieve the advancement of the use of technology in the schools?

Your paper needs to meet the following requirements:

  • Meets APA style, 5th ed. If you are not very familiar with APA style, you can visit the NAU library.
  • Does not exceed ten pages excluding title page, abstract, and references page. Please note that your instructor will deduct points if you exceed the number of pages.
  • Has at least 8 different sources that were used in the paper. Sources need to include peer-reviewed articles, webcasts or webinars, and podcasts.
  • Extra credit of 10 pts. will be provided if the paper is published in some form in the internet. You may want to check webinars, podcasts, blogs, a website that is published by a company, institution, etc. to find a venue to publish your paper.
