» Get-Offs and Get-Aways:
When you are just beginning to ride bulls, you'll be hitting the ground before eight. Eventually, you'll make a ride and have no idea how to get-off!

To get-off and get-away from a bucking bull, there are several techniques involved. First of all, get-off into your riding hand. Bull ropes are designed to "give" when you slide into your riding hand, lessening the chance of getting hung up.

You do not need to pull the tail of your rope, but it does help. What is critical at this point is, turn your head, lean in that direction, throw your leg over the bull and really blast outa there. You basically roll off his back.
Third thing is, do not land flat on your back or stomach, learn to hit the ground in motion and get up on the fence. It does not matter if he's a gentle Jersey bull, GIT OUTA THE WAY!

Get-offs are all about keeping your cool, and trust the bull-fighters because they know where you're at when you don't.

"With one jump left to go, the great Donnie Gay would let himself slide to the end of his arm and have the bull launch him right at the whistle, just to impress the judges!"
