BACKGROUND
The Native American Business Organization (NABO) came into existence in 1989, when a group of business students formed the American Indian Business Association.  At that time, AIBA was formed by and for Native American business students at NAU to meet and share their experiences as college students.  The membership became a recognized organization through the Office of Student Life.  During the mid-1990s, AIBA changed their name to NABO.

MISSION
NABO recognizes professionalism and heritage as central to the club's success.  The group seeks to blend these concepts into club activities by assisting and encouraging students to complete their degree program while maintaining their identity; promote awareness of Native American culture through themes events; sponsor community services to local and tribal communities; and to engage in social gatherings with fellow students through planned activities.

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Individuals interested in joining NABO should be enrolled in a minimum of 7 credit hours or more at Northern Arizona University; maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00; regular attendance to club meetings and activities throughout the term; and have a willingness to learn new skills and meet people from different backgrounds and experiences.  Membership is open to students from all majors and ethnic backgrounds.

AWARDS RECEIVED
As an active student organization, NABO has received numerous awards for their leadership and mentoring program.
-2009 Appreciation Award from Kinlani Homeliving Program
-2009 Outstanding Student Club from the NAU Commission for Native Americans
-2007 President's Award for Ethnic Diversity
