What is InterVarsity Christian Fellowship???

First of all, InterVarsity is not a sports organization of any kind (although we have been known to play many sports together for fun!)

So what is it?

InterVarsity is a nation-wide interdenominational Evangelical Christian organization. Interdenominational means that people are involved from many different Christian backgrounds and some with no Christian backgrounds at all.

InterVarsity is focused on training and equipping the next generation of Christian leaders for the church and world-wide mission.  We offer hands-on leadership and service opportunities to help students discover and explore their gifts and callings and remove any obstacles to them following Jesus with their whole lives.

What do we do?

The cornerstone of InterVarsity is the Bible Study. As mentioned before, most of these small groups are student led. People gather in groups of 5 to 16 to study scripture and to know each other. No one lectures at these small groups; the leader serves as a facilitator of discussion. IV has at least one bible study in each dorm on campus, plus a few off campus studies. Some studies are for people just exploring the Christian faith, and other are for those who want an in depth study of the Word.

Weekly we gather on Thursday nights at 8 pm in Chemistry 106 for a chapter wide meeting called Large Group. We worship through songs, prayer and teaching. After meetings, we have opportunities for fellowship.

Throughout the year we offer many camps and conferences. It all starts with Pre-Fall retreat in late August. This is a time when we all come back together before school starts and prepare for Welcome Week. In the fall we have Fall Conference with ASU. It is a great time to get to know people, to be challenged by a great speaker and to study the Word. In the Spring we have FOCUS, a conference with ASU and U of A where we focus in on one aspect of God’s character. It is a great time of worship, praise, and studying scripture. At the end of the year is InterVarsity's Chapter Camp at Crooked Creek in Winter Park, Colorado, where students from all over the Rocky Mountain region will meet together for a week of training in different tracks.  You can choose from training tracks such as spiritual disciplines, evangelism, worship leading, and discipleship.

Statement of Faith

 We believe in:

The only true God, the almighty Creator of all things, existing eternally in three persons-- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--full of love and glory.

The unique divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness and authority of the Bible.

The value and dignity of all people:  created in God's image to live in love and holiness, but alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt, and justly subject to Godís wrath.

Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine, who lived as a perfect example, who assumed the judgment due sinners by dying in our place, and who was bodily raised from the dead and ascended as Savior and Lord.

Justification by God's grace to all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit, who gives to all believers a new life and a new calling to obedient service.

The unity of all believers in Jesus Christ,  manifest in worshipping and witnessing churches making disciples throughout the world.

The victorious reign and future personal return of Jesus Christ,  who will judge all people with justice and mercy, giving over the unrepentant to eternal condemnation but receiving the redeemed into eternal life.

To God be glory forever.
