Missions and Outreach

Missions: InterVarsity offers a number of missions opportunities both nationally and through the Rocky Mountain Region.  Here’s a sampling of what we do! You can also check out the Missions section of our Rocky Mountain Regional Web Page.

• Kenya Global Project: a five-week summer project partnering with churches in urban and rural Kenya. In addition to a team experience, you are placed around the country for special assignments working alongside pastors or medical clinics. This project has a special track for nursing students, who get hands-on experience in rural Kenyan clinics.
• Global Urban Trek: InterVarsity’s hands-on training for global urban missions! You can work with prostitutes in Bangkok, serve in Mother Theresa’s projects in Calcutta, and more! See InterVarsity’s national page for information on the six project sites and diaries of project participants.

Outreach: We see NAU as a great mission field!  InterVarsity’s main form of campus outreach is a relational-evangelism tool called G.I.G.s (Groups Investigating God).  You can learn to lead your seeking or skeptical friends through scripture passages about Jesus and to help them deal with their questions about life and faith in a safe environment.  Last year a dozen people became Christians!  This year we are praying for even more!  If you are interested in finding out how to lead a G.I.G. or want to participate in one, contact Jon Phillips e-mail.
