Students for Sustainable Living and Urban Gardening is a student organization at Northern Arizona University. Our mission is to maintain an edible landscape garden on the NAU campus, advocate for local, sustainable agriculture, and educate the community about growing native, heirloom variety plants, appropriate to the Colorado Plateau.
The garden also incorporates Permaculture design techniques to utilize and enhance the existing landscape, including terrace gardens, water harvesting, and multiple functioning systems. As a group, we honor the time-tested, local agricultural traditions of the Southwest.
SSLUG has created a peaceful space open to the NAU campus and greater Flagstaff community. Extensive signage in the garden guides visitors on a walking tour. The signs explain the growing needs and traditional uses of the plants, in addition to providing information about growing techniques in Northern Arizona.
**SSLUG meets every Thursday 1-3pm at the Campus Community Garden, next to SBS West.**
