Location: Zion East Rim Distance from Flagstaff: 240 miles
Trip Leader: Brad Cooke
People on hike: Brad, Nate, Amanda, Chris

We left Friday night at 5pm. We made it to Kanab just in time to get Subway before they closed. That night we crashed in the Zion canyon campground. We were going to do the west rim but the ranger said that there was too much snow to descend from the canyon rim. We headed up to the East rim trailhead at the east park entrance. We got a late start but the hike was not very far, we only went in 6 miles to the campsite. We camped just past the spring. We had to cram our two tents into little splits between the bushes and trees. The next day was some great hiking. We hiked up some slickrock and descended into echo canyon. Along the trail we dropped packs and hiked into a slot canyon that was easy and really cool. The trail was pretty easy overall and could be done in a day if you really wanted. We got down and drove up the canyon. There were a few climbers on the wall, it was pretty cool. We left and b-lined it for Lake Powell where Brad was the only one to jump in. It was amazingly cold in february. The key to this entire hike was.......Pepperoni.
