We left Friday night at 5pm. We made it to Kanab just in time to get Subway before they closed. That night we crashed in the Zion canyon campground. In the morning we went up to the Kolob Canyon area and got our permit. It was about 45 minutes to drive from Zion to the park entrance. We got the permit and started at the Lee Pass trailhead. It was only four miles down to the river where we staoped and say an awesome campsite. It is campsite #5. There is only enough room for one or two tents at this site and it is really not in very far. It is the first one on the river. It sits between a rock wall and the creek. We were in another two miles at the site #10. We had a pretty good site but it didn't get any sun until we had already packed up and left. We dropped our packs at the site and hiked in to the Kolob arch. It was a really shot one-mile hike but it was pretty cool. To get to the Arch is 6.5 miles from the trailhead. It is a half mile detour from the main trail if you are going in to Hop Valley. We got out the next morning and had enough time to drive around Zion and do the overlook trail. Once again we made it to the Subway in Kanab. A beautiful way to end a great trip.
