We had a great turnout for the first trip of the semester. Eleven of us piled in two cars and headed down to the Sedona area. House Mountain is a mountain south of Sedona near the Village of Oak Creek. We hiked up the Turkey Creek trail out on Verde Valley School Road. The weather looked like it would get wet from the trailhead but we all were ready for it. The first rain didn't hit until the tail end of the hike up to the saddle. It was light so we all just went up to the saddle before getting out any rain gear. It really started to pour on the way from the saddle to the top of the mountain, we're talking about cats and dogs living together, fire and brimstone. Some people pulled out the rain gear, others the skin suit top. On the top of the mountain after lunch, it started to clear up and stop raining long enough for us to get some great views of the area. We hiked out and decided to go and check out the creek down the road. It started to pour once again. We all figured that we were wet as hell anyway that, let by our fearless president, we jumped in the creek to ride the rapids. After getting as soaked as humanly possible, we all headed home to Flagstaff with one more fun hike under our belts.
