Seven people boated
down from Hoover Dam to Willow Beach, along the Lower Colorado River.
This trip is chock full of Hot Springs, Hot Caves, and Hot Seeps.
The weather on the first Day was quite nice with temperatures in
the 70's. We paddled for about a quarter mile before hitting our
first stop, a Hot Cave that goes way back into the side of a cliff.
It was like a sauna and allowed me to sweat out the alcohol from
an all-nighter in Las Vegas. More springs followed as we made our
way down the river. We camped that night at Arizona Hot Springs,
which features numerous pools of varying temperature with one capable
of seating 15-18 people. The next day we awoke to overcast skies
and a strong upriver wind. We had 11 miles to paddle to the take
out at Willow Beach and the wind blew the whole way. We were quite
happy when we finally were able to get off the river.
