Day Hike...

  • Backpack (500-3,000 cu. in.)
  • First Aid Kit w/snakebite
  • Water bottles (one to four quarts)
  • Headlamp or flashlight
  • Food

Overnight Trips...

  • Backpack to fit all your gear (2,500-5,000)
  • Tent or tarp
  • Sleeping bag

  • Hiking boots or Shoes
  • Hat w/brim
  • Stove w/extra fuel
  • Water bottles (to carry 3 quarts)
  • Water filter (or iodine)
  • Food (with stuff to hang from animals)

    • Polypro long-johns (top & bottom)
    • Fleece pants
    • Fleece jacket
    • Down jacket (or equivalent)
    • Waterproof Pats and Jacket
    • Hiking socks w/liner socks
  • Waterproof hiking boots (that come above the ankle)
  • Hat w/brim
  • Winter hat that covers ears
  • Neck warmer
  • Waterproof Gloves w/liners
  • Stove w/extra fuel
  • Water Bottle (to carry 4 quarts)
