Diving In

So last semester, I was placed into level 2 of the Japanese language class at Aoyama. To be quite honest, it was definitely below my level and thus, difficult to concentrate. It also kind of stunted my spirit because I knew I wasn't learning as much as I could be. Don't get me wrong, I know that this is definitely my fault and my doing, as I could have and should have asked to transfer to level 3 at the beginning of the year.

But alas, that is now water under the bridge. This semester I am transferring to level 3, even if my teachers tell me I'm not ready and my grades will probably be bad. This may affect any future plans I have for graduate school, but I really don't care anymore. One of the main reasons I stayed in level 2 is that I was afraid of getting bad grades because I wanted to get into graduate school.

Now I know I was wrong. I came here to learn Japanese, and I'm going to do that to the best of my ability, regardless of my grade. I'm shifting my focus from earning GPA points to actually learning.

We'll see how it goes, heh.

In other news, I got a new rail pass. This new one is awesome because it uses a technology called "Suica", which basically lets me keep the pass in my wallet and just tap a sensor with my wallet to go through the toll gate. This is sooo much easier and saves a lot of time. Call me lazy, but im tired of scouring my wallet for coins or tickets, or waiting in line to buy tickets at the ticket machines. Blech.

Ah well, off to school I go. wish me luck :)
