End of Summer

I thought it would be a good idea to write about my summer in Japan since I haven't posted much about it. My typical summer day consisted of waking up for breakfast here at the dorm (or sleeping in sometimes), doing some quick crunches/push-ups, study Japanese, study CSS web design, grab a bento at the local market for lunch, wander aimlessly on my bike in order to get lost and ask directions to meet new people, find my way home or hang out in a park somewhere and shoot photos, then dinner at the dorm, more studying and at some random time going to sleep.

Of course I didn't stick to the same thing EVERY day, but thats basically what I did most of the time.

One of the fun things I did was going to see Hanabi(fireworks), which really aren't so different from fireworks in the states, but the festive mood is a little bit different and of course the snacks and drinks of summer and people wearing kimonos and geta. It's hard to put the feeling into words, but I highly recommend it if you have the chance.

Buzzing locusts with varying tones, pitches and melodies everywhere. Mosquito bites, sports drinks like Pocari Sweat, I'm already getting natsukashii about everything. I also would rent movies at the local rental store and watch them over and over to practice my listening and to see what the movies are like here. Some movies I like: Always 3 chome, Takeshis', Vibrator(not AV, trust me), At Home Dad (tv series on DVD) I'll list more movies as I find them, maybe even make a section dedicated to media, we'll see :)
