Welcome Meetings Events Photos Links
First meeting of the semester is Wednesday, January 18th 7:30 PM at the Campus Coffee Bean. All officers must attend if interested in staying on the board, and all members are urged to attend, as this will be purely planning, budgeting and brainstorming. If members are unable to attend, but would like to add input before the meeting, they are welcome to do so as well, but be sure to include the following: Meeting times you can always attend and any ideas you have for this upcoming semester.

Events:

Trip to New Mexico: A camping trip to the Antes' Ranch in western New Mexico. Visit several native sites in the area including Zuni. This planned to be a weekend trip in the spring months of 2006.

Atlatl throwing contest: The Anthropology Club from Arizona State University has challenged our club to an atlatl throwing contest. We plan in constructing out atlatls and spears as a club project. Gerald Bacon met with the club on February 8, 2006 to demonstrate and let us practice throwing atlatls.

Wupatki National Monument: One of our possible club trips is to Wupatki, which is about a half an hour from Flagstaff. Wupatki is a site with numerous ruins and a wealth of regional history. Professor O'Hara has agreed to take the club to Wupatki the last weekend in February. We will meet in the North Campus parking lot at the very end of campus around noon on 2/26 (more specific details to follow, check your email!)

Primitive Living Skills: Mike has been talking with Tony Nestor about doing a Primitive Living Skills class for the club. Mike is working it out with the department to get everyone one unit of class credit. It will be the last weekend of Spring Break, from 3/25 - 3/26 and we leave about 9am on Saturday the 25th. The cost will be $30 a person (a huge discount!). The club will be providing most of the food, with Nestor providing one meal for us at his own expense. In addition, there is an unexcavated pit house right behind Nestor's house (where the workshop/class will be). Nestor has offered the pit house to people if they would like to come out a month before or so and map out the area. We will be setting up a test square. If anyone is interested in being a part of this "pre-class event" please contact Mike at lmf49@dana.ucc... .

Fundraisers:

Snack bar: Our club snack bar is located in the lounge of the Anthropology building (98D). We carry many kinds of sodas, chips, granola bars, popcorn, and candy bars at a reasonable price. If you are interested in helping keep the snack bar stocked please let us know.

Misc: There are also several other fundraising ideas that the club is organizing. For more details see the meeting minutes for February 1st .
