Shotokan karate-do is a traditional Japanese martial art. Its preservation as an authentic Japanese system offers students of all backgrounds the chance to learn a facet of Japanese culture while striving for excellence in mind, body, and spirit. Exercises will emphasize practical strength and flexibility development through traditional self defense exercises (kihon, kata, kumite). Rank testing will be available, though progress is dependent only upon the individual. Don't miss the opportunity to train and learn this traditional Japanese martial art for students, faculty and staff of Northern Arizona University as well as non-student members of the Flagstaff community. I look forward to training with you. Oss!!

News/Events:

Special training with Sensei Coburn (6th dan ISKF) from Phoenix on Saturday Dec 3rd, rank exams to follow. Class will be held in the morning, approximately 1.5-2 hours long, time to be announced. You needn't be testing for rank to attend this class.

If you wish to test for rank, you must have a clean white gi and be current with ISKF membership ($25 annual). There is an additional fee for the test of about $25 which goes toward bringing Sensei from Phoenix (and any additional instructors) as well as diploma costs.
